Black and white

Black and white

Last week our professor gave us a new assignment: as you can see the picture is black and white, so no color to take inspiration from.

I imagined two murderers walking right after their killing, so I wanted to express the anxiety  and the agitation; but I also wanted to counter that with some sort of remorse and aknowledgement.
I chose to use only chamber strings, with strong accents for the first part, played by a viola and a violin. Then a cello enters, followed by a double-bass to give a very dark sound. This represents the black in the picture; for the second part I used only violins, viola and cello for a much more flat and wistful sound.
This is just a draft; I plan to add a ripresa of the first part and to add a theme played by the cello.

Meanwhile I’m working at the Spirits of the Forest score, so I’ll probably post a new track soon!
